Woolwich is one of the most evolving and exciting places to live in the whole of the United Kingdom. Famous for its home for the Royal Military Academy which used to train commissioned Officers for the Royal Engineers and Royal Artillery. This site is now being developed into sought-after homes – what amazing buildings!
Its fortunes have risen, fallen and risen again just like the London stock market, from Garrison town with thriving department stores, to social and economic decline, and back to regenerated and gentrified riverside developments.
Woolwich is still a place of two halves, with the smartening town centre and Royal Arsenal riverside, with squares, glistening residential towers and new coffee shops, contrasting with established period terraces further up the hill, plus existing council estates.
This is evolving, however. The period terraced homes are undergoing refurbishment and facelifts courtesy of a new flock of professionals who seek value and excellent transport, and some braver souls have ventured up towards Shooters Hill to discover 1930’s suburbia with some of the capitals most exceptional skyline views.
The commuter links are just superb; trains to Cannon Street, Blackfriars, and Charing Cross, a Docklands Light Railway service through East London to Canary Wharf, riverboats to the Isle of Dogs, and most importantly a shiny new Elizabeth Line tube station. Let’s not forget the famous Woolwich Ferry to get you across the River Thames! No wonder the long-term council tenants and blue-collar workers have been joined by such an influx of busy professionals!
We have worked with many local developers in Woolwich. The developments we have sold and let have been highly popular, and the benefit of Help to Buy has encouraged both buyers and investors to invest their cash in this area. The great thing, it is only going to get better and better!
