We moved into the area 3 years ago just before our first daughter arrived. We’d been living in Greenwich and started doing the (insanely tough) park run in Hilly Fields (clue in the name) and just completely fell in love with the park and surrounds. When we started looking at transport links we couldn’t believe it was only 9 minutes from Ladywell into London Bridge and 20 into Charing Cross- absolutely ideal for a speedy commute.

Almost three years later and with several lockdowns and daughter number two having made an entrance we can honestly say we couldn’t have been happier here. Algiers Road is an incredible place to bring up a young family- Hilly Fields is just one minute’s walk away with Ladywell Fields only 5 minutes in the other direction. So many places in London feel so busy but here you really do get the sense you’re in a village- Algiers Road is quiet; Ladywell is relaxed but still has everything you need. The neighbours are lovely- people on the street know each other and say hello which can be so rare in London neighbourhoods! There’s a real sense of community and there are so many young families in the area and fun days out and activities for children right on the doorstep- the Horniman, Greenwich museums and Crystal Palace and Beckenham Place parks. The local nurseries and schools are fantastic too and we’ve loved getting to know other families in the area- it’s a big part of why we are staying local with our next move.

We love our house and we are so sad to be leaving it behind- its been a complete haven with all of the time we’ve been working at home in the last 18 months. We refurbished the bathroom shortly after moving in and put in underfloor heating and insulation which has made it much warmer. We’ve loved looking after the garden and planting seeds with our toddler in the veggie patch- the outdoor space was an absolute lifesaver in the dark days of the January lockdown with a two year old to entertain. It’s a lovely space inside- warm in the winter and cool in the summer with plenty of storage space and lovely original features.

Ladywell really is a hidden gem- we can’t imagine wanting to live anywhere else, it’s such a special place and we’ve been so happy here."
